Microcosmos cameo and Microcosm Intro 

Joanne's experience as a graduate student teaching the lab section of a course in Scanning Electron Microscopy enlightened her to how engineers and biologists approach machinery. (the book Microcosmos has a short cameo here). Her current experience of training engineers biological concepts and techniques motivates her to want to find a way to describe the all encompassing complexity and elegance of biology to people who think linearly.
